Dr. Farzad Abdinejad
Dr. Farzad Abdinejad was born on August 23,1946 in Ramhormoz, Iran. In July 1971, he entered Medical University of Tehran and in October 1976 he began his orthopedic course at Shafa Yahyaian Hospital and graduated in 1980.
At the end of education, which coincided with the onset of the war, he voluntarily went to the battlefields. Then he went to Shiraz in 1981 and was recruited at the medical school. His motivation in orthopedic surgery teaching stimulated him to reanimate the department of orthopaedic surgery of Shiraz Medical School. He was selected as the head of the orthopedic department in that time which was continued until 1998. In 1988, the educational university hospital of Martyr Dr. Chamran was established as the main orthopedic center in the south of Iran. Outside of the office time, he worked and treated the patients at the Moslemin Hospital of Shiraz. In 1999, he went to England and Austria for knee, shoulder and ankle joints arthroscopy training. In 2005, he was awarded a retirement pension. On the 29th of September 2010, he died at the age of 64.
The result of his educational, research and therapeutic efforts is the existence of an active and capable orthopedic department in the Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in addition to a large number of trained general and specialized physicians who are engaged in medical and educational services in different parts of Iran.
The present faculties of orthopedic department of Shiraz University of Medical Sciences, most of whom have been their students, commemorate this great man. Dr. Abdinejad is always unforgettable, Peace be upon him.
